Sewer Camera Inspections

What can we help you with?

Sewer Camera Inspections

What Is It?

What is a sewer camera inspection you ask? Sewer camera inspections are exactly what they sound like. When you buy a new home or want to check the condition of your existing plumbing without actually crawling through your pipes (not that you actually can!), a sewer camera inspection is necessary.

How Does It Work?

Sewer camera inspections are inspections of the sewer line using a device with a built in camera called a sewer inspection camera. The camera has large bright LEDs to light up the path ahead of it in your dark pipes. This device is inserted into your piping from some area of your home or commercial building similar to a rodding or jetting machine. It is then connected to a monitor that will show live feed of what exactly the inside of your plumbing looks like. If required, the camera of this device can take pictures or videos for you to view in the future.

So Why Do I Need This Again?

You need this because sewer camera inspections are what saves you and your plumber from digging in the wrong spot when excavating out a large portion of your sewer system. This is because the camera itself has a transmitter installed in it which an above ground hand held detector can locate. This allows a plumber to find exactly where the issue is after  finding out what the problem itself. Sewer camera inspections will save you time and loads of money! In fact, there are almost always mandatory in most situations **cough cough.. unless your plumber is a schmuck that is**.

What Kind Of Problems Could My Plumbing Have?

Where do we even start! There could be loads of problems with your plumbing! I could write it all out in a paragraph but I think bullet points are more ideal right now.

  • Invasion of tree roots: Tree roots in Chicago are probably one of the biggest problems we see! Here is what happens. When you use the water it flows through your piping. This water then condenses out of your pipes which attract tree roots. In the scenario where a tiny crack occurs in your line the leaking grows more. This makes the roots attracted to that little crack of your and squeeze their way in. over time the roots will get larger and your crack will too! Eventually the roots will block your sewer line and you’ll need to call logic plumbers to come give you a hand. Sewer camera inspections would be used if A. Logic Plumber thinks rodding wouldn’t work  OR B. Rodding was tried, didn’t work already, and now are looking at the next option!
  • Blockages: Sometimes blockages are so darn bad that nothing is helping. You have had multiple plumbers come to rod the line out and may be even one guy come hydro jet the line and it’s still not solved. A sewer camera inspection would be the next step! By performing a camera inspection the reason for this blockage can be visually seen. It could even be a toy that has been flushed and is now holding up the line!
  • A broken pipe line: Complete breaks in pipe lines are not as common as fractures. They are typically found in much older plumbing and most of the time there is nothing left to do but excavate out (dig out) the line and replace that portion of the pipe. In this case sewer camera inspections MUST be performed! Please don’t be the guy who let a plumber dig out his pipe line without actually finding the location! You will be in a world of headaches if it turns out that the wrong spot was dug out.

Had to call logic for a clog in my sink. Turned out that the main sewer line was clogged. They got it fixed by rodding the line. Good service indeed.

Good company. They came out the same day I called for a pipe repair in one of my rental properties. Gave a fair price and got the pipe repaired fairly quickly. Will probably call again for future services.

My mother hired Logic Plumbing two weeks back for a clog we had in our sewer system. Our basement got flooded since the water would not flow out of the main line. Kevin was sent out and first tried to rod the line. When this did not work, he decided to scope the line and showed us that our main... sewer pipe had collapsed on itself. He gave us an excavation quote and we decided to get a couple other companies to come and give us quotes as well. Three companies later and we realized that Logic was more reasonable for us from the start.read more
